Bye, Bye, Sabine Schmitz’s M5—The New Ring-Taxi is an E90 M3 Sedan

M-badged BMWs are fairly common on Germany's famous Nürburging. But perhaps no single M-car spent more time on that hallowed ribbon of asphalt than the white E60 M5 known as the "Ring-Taxi." For anyone not familiar with the Ring-Taxi, it is used to give hot laps around the 'Ring's legendary Nordschleife to those who score tickets on BMW's Ring-Taxi Experience website. With the E60 M5 long out of production, however, the famous Ring-Taxis needed to be replaced, and so the famed livery now adorns the next best thing to the outgoing M5, the E90 M3 sedan.

Unfortunately, the Ring-Taxi will no longer be piloted by the famously fetching Sabine Schmitz. Apparently, after lapping the Nordschleife more than 20,000 times for more than a decade and earning the titles "Queen of the 'Ring" and "World's Fastest Taxi Driver," Schmitz has decided to stop driving around in circles—or at least this particular circle. Taking her place will be instructors from the BMW Driving Experience racing school. Last we checked, there were no tickets available to ride shotgun, but then again, we'd rather drive anyway .
