Mini just recently revealed its 2012 Mini Coupe, and now the cheeky brand is fielding a race-prepped John Cooper Works Coupe in the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race this weekend. Gleaning race know-how from its Mini Challenge sprint racing series, Mini took a stock JCW Coupe and transformed it into a tiny terror. The resulting JCW Coupe Endurance sports a roll cage, the Mini Challenge braking system, track-biased dynamic stability control, an integrated pneumatic jack, and a special aero package comprised of a new front splitter, a rear diffuser, and an adjustable rear wing. The shocks are adjustable, and the JCW Coupe's turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder has been massaged to produce 250 hp—42 more than stock—and maximum twist of 243 lb-ft of torque when an overboost function is activated. All of that power is routed to the front wheels through a sequential six-speed gearbox. Mini claims the racing Coupe weighs just 2127 pounds, and that it tops out at more than 149 mph. If you are lucky enough to be in attendance at the 24-hour race, at least the JCW Coupe Endurance’s bright-red roof should make it easy to spot as it buzzes around the Green Hell.
