McLaren hopes to command a 35-dealership network by the end of 2011 to distribute and service its new MP4-12C sports car, and the first showroom opens tomorrow in London's Hyde Park. Much as McLaren pledged factory support and attentive customer service with its MP4-12C GT3 race car program, the automaker wants a dealership network stocked with a spare of every serviceable MP4-12C part in what it is referring to as its fast and trouble-free "pitstop" service concept. McLaren Automotive also wants its customers in every market to have access to retailer-based sales and service facilities, and once all 35 locations come online the company will be present in 19 countries. (By “every market” we assume the company means roughly 10 percent of the countries in the world.) The next two McLaren retail stores to open their doors after the London showroom will do so on June 30th in Manchester, England, followed by sites in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland this summer.
