2011 Ford Explorer Limited 4WD

Ford has announced a bevy of updates to its 2012 lineup, including spreading its Sync AppLink smartphone app-control interface to 10 more models, and the addition of its inflatable rear seatbelts to the Ford Flex and several Lincolns next summer. AppLink—which has been available for download to Fiesta owners since that car went on sale late last year—allows drivers to manipulate compatible smartphone apps via the car's controls and display. For 2012, Ford will make AppLink standard on Sync-equipped Expeditions, Fusions, Fusion hybrids, Fiestas, F-150s, F-150 SVT Raptors, Super Dutys, E-Series vans, Shelby GT500s and the Ford Mustang. Among Ford’s safety updates to its 2012 lineup, the automaker’s innovative inflatable rear seatbelts (think seatbelt-mounted curtain airbags for your body), introduced on the 2011 Ford Explorer, will migrate to the 2012 Ford Flex and unspecified Lincoln vehicles next summer. We expect the inflatable belts will be optional equipment on the Flex, as they are on the Explorer, and that the Lincolns will include the MKT.
