The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle doesn't arrive in showrooms until September, so VW is stoking excitement for its new Bug with a 600-unit run of Black Turbo Launch Edition Beetles that you can pre-order after 12 P.M. EDT today. The Black Turbo, as its name suggests, comes painted black and is powered by VW's turbocharged 200-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder that also powers the GTI. The Black Turbo also nets zesty silver "Turbo" rocker panel lettering and decklid script, red brake calipers, a rear ducktail spoiler, and a sport suspension. The interior is set off by carbon-fiber-look dashboard trim, aluminum pedals, an anthracite headliner, and subtle red accent trim. If you manage to snag a pre-order of one of the 600 Beetle Black Turbo Launch Editions, the privilege will cost you a $495 fully refundable reservation fee that will go towards the GTI-cum-Beetle's $25,720 purchase price.
